Pleasant Grove City (My 2nd Grader will be playing in Pleasant Grove for basketball this year even though we live in American Fork, we have tried both and feel that Pleasant Grove has a better league, they play 5 on 5 with a referee at this age vs. 4 on 4 with the coaches refereeing in American Fork)

Basketball Camp Reviews

I thought I might take the time and review some of the camps that I have posted this year. My son, has gone to a few, and I thought you may want feedback on them. (If anyone else has feedback on a camp or league that I have posted, please post it as a comment, then I will post it on the blog)

American Fork High School Basketball Camp
This year the camp was held on four weekdays (T and W of one week, then another T and W of another week). Normally the camp is held in the mornings just shortly after school gets out. This was nice in someways, because it allowed my son to go to other camps that were normally scheduled at the same time. But because of the camp being during the evening, and my son plays baseball, he was only was able to go to the camp one night, he had baseball games during the other 3 nights of the camp.
In the past my son has loved it, and he did love it the one day he was there. It is fun for the boys to get to know the coaching staff and players on the high school team. Then when the varsity season starts, my boys want to go watch the players they have come to know.

Lone Peak High School
My son went to the Lone Peak Camp for the first time this year. Even though our kids will end up going to American Fork High School, he loved his experience at the Lone Peak Camp. He learned a lot of new skills and thoroughly enjoyed the competitions they offer and the Mr. Hustle award they gave out each day. He said the players and coaching staff were so kind and great with the kids.

Xsi Factory- Week long Summer Basketball Camp
My son is just finishing up the camp. There were not a lot of kids that attended this camp, which made it nice for my son-more one on one time with those giving instruction. It has been a wonderful camp! He has learned so many new drills and skills while being there, the quality of coaching at this camp was great! I went and watched a couple of days and was very impressed. I highly recommend this camp for anyone that is serious about basketball. Not only did I think it was great, but my son and his friends would come home each day and tell me how fun everything was. It is a M-F camp for 2 1/2 hours each day. It was put on my Marty Haws and Britt0n Johnsen.

Jackson and Jimmer Camp
Yes, we were one of those families that had a little boy that was dying to see Jackson Emery and Jimmer Fredette, so we went to the two day event. It was a bit costly, so I was worried it would not be worth it since it was only a 2 day camp.
I have to admit, that it was all worth it! As we arrived, we received an autographed t-shirt by Jackson and Jimmer. Then the entire BYU basketball team was their to to play a little ball with the boys as we waited for Jackson and Jimmer to arrive. When they did arrive, they showed us how they work out, the drills they do each day, and also spoke to the boys that they are where they are because of hard work and setting goals. Stuff we as parents always preach, but it sounds so much better coming from these two young men.
Each child was able to take a professional picture with Jackson and Jimmer, have pizza, do a few drills, then it was time to go home. The next day was a 3 hour clinic. My son was there with just 3rd and 4th graders, which allowed a lot of personal time with Jackson and Jimmer and the BYU players. My son was in heaven. It was priceless to see the look on his face everytime they would get close to him.
It was also very well organize, which as a mother, I appreciated. Great camp if you are willing to spend the money.
